KAUNAS STREET PHOTOGRAPHY
11th October – 29th November

Lithuania has a strong humanistic genre within photography,
no more so in the Black and White tradition of the ‘decisive moment’ of street photography. These three image-makers are all important photographers spanning 3 generations all of whom are members of the Lithuanian Union of Art Photographers. Kaunas is the second largest city in Lithuania – its ambience, its light and space, and the poetry of the everyday are captured in this stunning series of photographs.

POETIC DOCUMENTS
11th October – 10th November

The exhibition presents the works of various generations of photographers and writers which poetically convey a particular aesthetic experience of the past and present of Lithuania and the relationship between photography and poetry. Embracing the history of the 20th – 21st century Lithuanian photography, this retrospective story is enriched by a combination of photographic images and poetic text. It is a visual journey around the landscape of Lithuanian photography guided by fragments of Lithuanian poetry which enrich the exhibition area with existential moods, subjective conditions and aspects of existence and becoming. The works in the exposition are interconnected by five topics which complement and extend each other – nature, human being, city, time and memory.

Artists include: Antanas Sutkus, Indre Serpytyte, Algirdas Seskus, Vytautas Balcytis, Alfonsas Budvytis, Aleksandras Macijauskas, Romualdas Pozerskis, Almantas Grikevicius, Rimaldas Viksraitis, Arunas Kulikauskas and many more.
