In Our Own Image: The Genesis of Photography and the Contemporary Eye @ Decorative Arts Center of Ohio

In Our Own Image: The Genesis of Photography and the Contemporary Eye
September 9 through December 31, 2017

“This exhibition chronicles the early development of photography and displays historic work as well as the work of contemporary photographers who use early processes. “This exhibition will resonate with everyone. The story of photography is a story of innovation. Our visitors will develop an expanded sense of history and creativity in their view of America,” says Elizabeth Brown, co-director of the Decorative Arts Center of Ohio. In Our Own Image is curated by historian Scott Ferris of Boonville, New York and Arnold Tunstall from the University of Akron. Artist Stephen Takacs will re-imagine the gallery space as a nineteenth century photo studio where he will take large glass plate photos of visitors and develop them on site.”
