“Paul Albert Leitner is the ideal choice when it comes to the embodiment of the archival aspect in contemporary Austrian photography. Leitner, who travels constantly, goes home on “internal service,” as he puts it, to organize his thoughts and images, in a mountainous landscape of boxes with thousands upon thousands of meticulously labeled photos, found objects, newspaper clippings, texts, collages . On the occasion of a generous donation of 80 framed photographs by Paul Albert Leitner to the Fotohof archive – cityscapes, landscapes, street scenes, self-portraits – a representative overview of the work of this great Austrian photographer is shown.”
