Submission Guideines

Issue #42 is a portfolio issue. Submit a complete body of work along with your artist statement.

GUEST EDITOR AMBER TERRANOVA, FROM PHOTO DISTRICT NEWS (PDN) Amber Terranova is the photo editor for Photo District News. She worked previously for New York magazine and Outside. She holds a BFA in photography from the School of Visual Arts, Manhattan.

Amber has assisted with programming at Center, a Santa Fe-based non-profit organization that supports photographers. Her taste in photography tends toward emerging and established artists with strong personal projects, surprising content and evidence of political or social engagement. She's most drawn to introspective, provocative work.

For issue #42 you must submit an artist statement along with 12-20 images following the guidelines below. Images must be received by July 01. Issue #42 will have an expected publication date of August 1, 2010.


PLEASE READ AND FOLLOW CAREFULLY THE GUIDELINES BELOW!! SUBMISSIONS WILL NOT BE ACCEPTED IF THE GUIDELINES ARE NOT FOLLOWED

Email:

Subject line should indicate which issue you are submitting for. Please send your images in 1 email if at all possible and please try to attach the files NOT embed them.

Image File Specifications:

Submit up to 12 images as jpegs at 72ppiand 700 pixelsFOR THE LONGEST EDGE (for a horizontal picture=width, for a verticle picture=height) .

File Naming:

Please name the files with your FIRST name OR FIRST name and LAST INITIAL and a number with NO SPACES OR DASHES or non number or letters!
(Example: Susan1.jpg, Susan2.jpg OR SusanM1.jpg, SusanM2.jpg etc)

If you send links to your images make sure the images are the proper size and have the proper file names as described above -however it is preferred that you send your images as attachments.

Please include with your submission:

  1. your name
  2. where you are from
  3. the titles for your photographs (in the text of the email not in links or file names)
  4. your email address in the text of the email (leave blank if you dont want your email listed on the contributors page if included in the issue)
  5. a url if you have one, even if you have submitted before, in the text of the email.

You are granting F-Stop Magazine a non-exclusive license to use the photograph in its submitted form, subject to re-sizing to fit the magazine format, for publication on the F-Stop website for as long as the website exists. Please note that back issues of F-Stop may remain available in the archive for as long as the website exists.

PROMOTE YOUR PROJECT

Do you have a body of work or current project you would like more people to see? You can have an image and text based link to your site or your project on the F-Stop site. In exchange we ask for a donation of any amount to our humble no profit cause of putting out the magazine. Here is what to do, send an email with your name and a description/artist statement of your project and a link to the work. We will review each submission and choose 3 for each issue. Once you are accepted you will have the choice of creating your text/image link in accordance with our specifications or you can submit your information and a few images and we will create one for you.
