Arena Photographers was founded in 1986 by well-known photojournalist Joan Wakelin. The group currently has a membership of 26 prominent photographers from all over the South of England. The ethos of the group is a simple one – to promote the highest standards of photography through the work of its members, to stimulate lively and constructive discussion, and to be inspired by presentations from visiting photographers. Within its membership are several who have published best selling photographic books, both of a fine art and a technical nature, whilst others organise and lead workshops and lecture on the art of photography.
