Nick Brandt: The Day May Break
until 7th September
“Nick Brandt is one of contemporary photography’s great environmental champions. The Day May Break is a global photographic series focusing on the devastating impact of climate change on local communities, individuals and animals. The series was shot in different locations around the world – countries that are the least polluting but the most climate vulnerable. Executed with great artistic prowess, the series of four related chapters provides a unique insight into environmental photography, celebrating the strength of the human spirit, community and solidarity in the face of the global climate threat. The first two chapters were photographed in Kenya, Zimbabwe (2020) and Bolivia (2022), while SINK / RISE, was shot in Fiji. Taken underwater, the lives of the local people in these photographs have already been affected by the rising sea levels and will be even more so in the coming years. CD Cankarjev dom hosts Chapters One to Three, while Chapter Four, The Echo of Our Voices, is on view at the Galerija Fotografija Gallery.”
