The project documents the movement’s pioneering icons and includes nearly 70 portraits of artists like Shepard Fairey, Blek Le Rat, Seen, Ron English, Swoon, Faile, Space Invader and Vhils among others.
In 2012, Solkær set out to do a large scale portrait project about individuals who create art in the public space. The project aimed to document the contemporary street art movement and capture the genre’s pioneering icons and most significant artists. Commenting on his inspiration for the project, Solkær states, “Being from Denmark, I’ve seen interest in street art spread across Europe and the world. I felt that this was the perfect time to portray the people behind one of the most powerful and prevalent art movements of our time.”
